Some of these names are liked by the inhabitants of these Central American countries, others not so much. In this region, there are many other ways (in addition to the official name) to refer to Nicaraguans, Guatemalans, Hondurans… We speak of hypocoristic, a generally affectionate designation to refer to those born in a place. It is easy to find out that we are talking about someone from Costa Rica, right?
